Weekly game results for Piedmont Baseball Foundation teams are listed below. Game information from coaches and team representatives should be submitted by Sunday at 8 p.m. at www.piedmontbaseball.org using the “Game Publicity” menu item. Results below are from games played last week.
SHETLAND
River Cats vs. Mudcats
In the sweltering heat these juggernauts faced off. It was a day of big hits and
keen base running. There was simply no cooling off the Players of the Game -- Brit Burden and Jake Parmett for the Mudcats, and Joseph Krenn and Drew Doll, for their outstanding work at the plate for the River Cats.
PINTO
Piedmont Cardinals 19, Orinda Giants 14
The Cardinals played a great game on Saturday holding off the Orinda Giants in a close match for a win. Highlights of the game include a home run from Cormac Whitney, triples from Daniel McLaughlin, Brian Cain, Chaz Whitley, Dean Lopez, and RBI's from Antonia Rivera, Kai Baudendistel, Murray Davis, and Nico Defazio. Max Young, Hollis Williams and Chaz Whitley were great on defense making great plays at 3rd, PA and 1st.
Piedmont Cubs 27, California Screamers 21
JoJo Murphy and Owen Reilly had grand slams to lead the offense for the Cubs in a win vs. the Orinda CA Screamers. Michael Aikawa, Shane Miller and Ben Barnes went 4 for 4 at the plate scoring 3 runs apiece.
Piedmont Cubs 18, Orinda Terminators 12
Alex McLaughlan sparked the Cubs comeback win over the Orinda Terminators with a bases-clearing triple. JoJo Murphy, Owen Somerville and Quintan Han supported with 3 hits apiece. Sam Corcoran made a leaping grab of a line drive and AJ Harris provided heads-up support on defense.
MUSTANG
Piedmont Polar Cats 6, Piedmont River Bandits 3
The Polar Cats were paced by excellent pitching, most notably Nicholas Lalli, and timely hitting from Luke Hawkins. The River Bandits kept it close with outstanding pitching, hitting and catching from Ryan Tripp and powerful hitting from Salem Cavenaugh.
Piedmont Polar Cats 1, The Other Team 0

Garen Riley led the game off with a walk and came around to score. It proved to be all that was necessary for the Polar Cats. A classic pitchers' duel with each team hurling a one-hitter. Outstanding performances were put in by Ben Williamson (with the only extra base hit of the day) and Henri Marchant for The Other Team. Ethan Drake and Abe Barnes were overpowering on the mound for the Polar Cats.
Piedmont Bears 9, Piedmont Tornadoes 5
The Bears got great pitching from Billy McNeil, Matty Clavin, and Brady Dunne to
help notch the win. Cole Canine went 3 for 3 with two homers, and Luke Barrett, Eli Kleinmann, and Elliot Meeks provided hits and runs for the offense. For the Tornadoes, Tommy and James Conroy, and Lars Derr pitched solidly, while Jacob Tay, Tommy Smegal, and Trevor Thayer contributed hits to pace the offense.
Piedmont Jedi 2, Piedmont River Cats 0
Noah Rosenbaum, Ben Levinson, and Joseph Haggerty combined for no-hitter and a 2-0 win for the Jedi. A very good River Cats pitching squad led by Alex Hilton allowed only two hits on the day. Ben Levinson had both RBI's for the Jedi and key hits by Joseph Haggerty and Robert Epstein helped the Jedi extend their win streak to 4 games.
BRONCO
Piedmont Aces 8, Moraga Dodgers 6
The Piedmont Aces extended their winning streak to 4 games with an 8-6 victory over the Moraga Dodgers. Pitching, defense, and aggressive base running paved the way for the Aces. E.J. Cheung, Jonah Sanders, Andrew Newell, and Sam Von Hermann helped pitch the Aces to the win. Cheung got the Aces off to a good start, while Sanders let up only 1 run in 3 strong innings and Von Hermann needed only 3 pitches to strike out the last batter with the bases full. Sam White had two key hits for the Aces, and Newell stole home.
Piedmont Vipers 16, Orinda 15
In the hot sun, the Vipers raced out to an early lead and got the final out on an attempted steal of home in a thrilling game. Logan Vawter, Max Davis, Sidd Gala, Dylan Thayer, and Owen Levinson led the strong offensive attack. Vawter, Aidan Dixon, and Patrick Filler pitched well. Jackson Cavenaugh, Kevin Judd, and Patrick Aebi played great defensive.
SOFTBALL U10
Piedmont Dragons 7, Oakland Chili Peppers 6
Dragons pitchers Ingrid Schleuning, Maeve Gilbert, Camille Creighton, and Jasmine Edwards picked up 9 strikeouts with Gilbert and Creighton each striking out the side. It was Schleuning and Edwards first pitching appearances of the year. The Chiles picked up 4 in the first. In the second, the Dragons were only able get one back when Sophia Whitley drove home Gilbert from third. In the home half, Edwards came up with a big, bases-loaded single to drive in Naomi Fedor and Laura Bryan for the walk-off win.
Piedmont Mudhens 4, Oakland Green Machine 0
The MudHens pushed their record to 2-0, with stellar pitching once again by Kyra Gardner, Caroline Strauch and freshly groomed arm - Ana Greenstein. Timely hitting came from Anna Greenstein with 1 RBI in the 1st inning, Kylie-Ann Heller with 1 hit, 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases, Kit Asa-Hauser had 1 hit, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base, Sydney Ferris had 1 hit, 1 run scored and 3 stolen bases. Addie Castle-Darden picked up the final RBI on a 2 out based loaded walk. Addie also played catcher (1st time) in the 1st inning and threw out a base stealer at 3rd base.
Piedmont Dragons 13, Oakland Green Machine 14
Piedmont pitcher Annabeth Meaney settled in and struck out two. Nina Tafapolsky drove in Lilli Nillson. In the 3rd, Dragons pitcher Maeve Gilbert struck out the #2-3-4 hitters. Cloe Tjogas then got things rolling in the home team's at bat by knocking in Naomi Fedor. Nillson, Laura Bryan, and Sofia Whitley all scored. Dragons down 14-5, they staged an incredible rally. After a lead-off single by Camille Creighton and pair of strike-outs, the Green Machine pitcher couldn't find the plate. Maeve Gilbert then smashed a sharp line drive, and it was thrown to the catcher, who made the final out.
