SOFTBALL U6

Piedmont Silver Dolphins 36, Piedmont Black Cats 36

Both teams showed impressive defensive skills. For the Black Cats, Anna Gotto and Isley Douglas handled the pitching assistant position with authority as they made stellar plays at first and home. With patience at the plate, Sammy Schwartz drilled one to the outfield. The Silver Dolphins defense kept the game at a tie. Taylor Rolefson made two key outs at second base while Krysta Tsukahara shined at first base. Both Clare Murphy and Lucy Filler were impressive in the outfield. Amy Derr was the big hitter of the game for the Silver Dolphins with a big hit deep into center field.

Piedmont Black Cats vs. Alameda Pixies

Another outstanding outing by the Black Cats on Saturday. Impressive hitting performances by Tyler Knapp and Addison Osta Smith. Pitching Assistant Annika Hattan-Kutter got in her groove and did a tremendous job fielding and with the assistance of first baseman, Gretchen Gerhardy, they made incredible defensive plays. It was a great team effort all around!

Piedmont Black Cats vs. Piedmont Purple Ponies

The Black Cats bats brought their “A” game on Sunday with incredible offensive and defensive plays. Their bats were alive, with awesome hitting from Annika Nillsson, Ellie De Van and Elizabeth Wiesbrock. With the Purple Ponies' strong offensive line-up, the Black Cats were focused and ready to defend as Julia Banuelos hustled to field the ball, with great back up support from Sadie Lahey Teare.

Piedmont Mudhens 4, Oakland Eclipse 5

Caroline Strauch started the pitching and after giving up a walk and 2 consecutive singles settled down with a "K" and a ground-out. Piedmont Dragons 2, Oakland Eclipse 10

Piedmont Dragons pitchers Ingrid Schleuning, Jasmine Edwards, Maeve Gilbert, and Camille Creighton combined for 12 strikouts in 5 innings, but the Oakland Eclipse took advantage of a few walks followed by timely hitting to jump ahead 6-2 in the 2nd. Rachel Elliott and Camille Creighton both had singles and scored the Dragons' two runs. The Eclipse's pitching and defense was strong and they were able to fend off Dragon's rallies in the 2rd and 5th innings. The Dragons had some nice defense of their own, especially Naomi Feder's throw from centerfield to pitcher Gilbert to catcher Creighton, who tagged out the runner at home.
