The office staff – Julia Burke, Patty Dunlap and Beth Porter – were joined by parent volunteers, Piedmont Educational Foundation board members, friends and family members in moving files, office furniture and boxes.
The pace of the move picked up with the arrival of two classes of the Piedmont Middle School Green Team, who moved an incredible amount using "kid power" and carts instead of cars and trucks – as much as a moving van would have.

Not only did they save the energy that would have been used, they also saved the cost of renting a truck or hiring a moving company. The students were also demonstrating a basic principle of conservation: the power of one, multiplied by many. The conservation that one person does, multiplied by many, creates a big savings in energy consumption. The work of one person helping, multiplied by the whole class, can move a whole office in a day.
