Lots of Questions at City Budget Workshop

Piedmont City Council members asked for more information on a range of issues at last weekend's city budget workshop, according to an article on the Piedmont Civic Association website.

Among their concerns:

  • Piedmont Community Pool fees, costs and usage by regular lap swimmers
  • The height of the firehouse doors, which are lower than standard. As a result, the city must purchase custom-made ladder trucks.
  • A vote-by-mail process for municipal elections and/or consolidating municipal elections with the state's general elections.
  • Whether the city could self-insure for unemployment insurance.
Tim Rood, a member of the city's Budget Advisory and Financial Planning Committee, asked when the Piedmont Recreational Facilities Organization (PRFO) was going to pay the city amounts owing in connection with the now-defunct Blair Park soccer field project and when the Piedmont Hills Utilities Undergrounding District would pay $100,000 pledged to the city for their project, which had large cost overruns.
