Man Killed in Oakland's Fruitvale District

The victim moved to the U.S. from Guatamala seeking a better life, only to be shot to death in Pakland.

A man fatally shot in Oakland’s Fruitvale district on Sunday night has been identified by police as 38-year-old Basilio Pablo Ramirez, a native of Guatemala.

The shooting was reported at 9:21 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of 39th Avenue just north of International Boulevard.

Police said as many as three suspects may have been involved in the shooting and were seen fleeing in a vehicle. No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning.
