Man Shot Dead Near Lake Merritt

OAKLAND, CA – UPDATE: TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 1:15 p.m.

A man who was fatally shot near Lake Merritt in Oakland early this morning has been identified as 42-year-old Tyrone Jordan, police said.

Jordan, an Oakland resident, was shot in the 100 block of East 12th Street, next to the Americas Best Value Inn motel, shortly before 2:15 a.m., according to police.

Responding officers began administering first aid to Jordan until paramedics arrived at the scene and took him to a hospital, police said. At 2:52 a.m., he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.
No one has been arrested for the fatal shooting, according to police.
