Man Shot, Killed Near Mosswood Park Identified
The Oakland man was fatally shot Monday evening.

A man shot and killed by a suspect who fled on a bicycle near Oakland’s Mosswood Park on Monday evening was identified as a 39-year-old Oakland resident, police said.
The shooting that killed Frank R. Sowokinos was reported at 7:32 a.m. in the 3600 block of Broadway. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing a black hoodie, shot Sowokinos in the stomach before fleeing on a mountain bike. Sowokinos was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound but pronounced dead a short time later.
Police have not identified the suspect, who remains at large. Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to call Oakland police homicide investigators at (510) 238-7230.
