Martial Arts Fighters Spar in Piedmont Park

By day Piedmont High School grad Charlette Lim Yankowitz ('05) works as the field trip coordinator for Chabot Space and Science Center. Stephen Gardner is a tehchnician on a team developing drugs to treat "orphan diseases," ignored by other companies in the pharmaceutical industry, at Biomarin in Novato. The two friends, who met as science majors at UC Santa Cruz, spend their off-work hours boxing Muay Thai style.

“We spend many hours hitting each other,” laughed Yankowitz.
