Montclair Bank Robbed By Suspect in Security Uniform Jacket

Police say he may be responsible for similar robberies in Oakland and Alameda.

OAKLAND, CA — A man in a security uniform robbed a bank in Oakland's Montclair neighborhood on Monday, the second time a suspect with that description robbed a bank on that street since November, police said today.

Investigators are also looking into the possibility that the same suspect robbed a bank in Alameda last month.
Monday's robbery was reported at 10:26 a.m. at the Bank of the West at 2023 Mountain Blvd.

The suspect, wearing a black security uniform jacket and black pants, simulated having a firearm during the robbery. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Police described the suspect as a man with a brown complexion standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

The Chase Bank at 2051 Mountain Blvd., only about a half-block away, was also robbed by a man in a security guard's jacket on Nov. 19, police said.

In that case, the suspect walked into the bank at about 11:10 a.m. and brandished a handgun, leaving with about $1,000 cash, according to police.

Police are also looking into the possibility that the same suspect robbed a Citibank at 2420 Santa Clara Ave. in Alameda at about 1 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Anyone with information about the robberies has been asked to contact Oakland police robbery investigators at (510) 238-3326.
