Nearby Solar Eclipse Viewing Parties Are in Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont & Walnut Creek

Tomorrow - Thursday, Oct. 23! And experts say the best viewing will be between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth. Join us on our observation deck to watch as the moon ‘occults’ the sun! Our resident astronomy experts will be on hand to help you safely view the celestial phenomenon using special instruments and will help to answer your questions.

Children’s Natural History Museum 4074 Eggers Drive in Fremont.

We will have telescopes available at the museum for viewing the eclipse from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Sun-Earth-Moon
models will be on hand to demonstrate the mechanics of the eclipse. If the weather does not cooperate for
directly viewing the eclipse, we will have a video feed of the eclipse available inside the museum, along with
solar system demonstrations.

The Lawrence Hall of Science (Centennial Drive, at the U. of California, Berkeley): is hosting an observing event. Activities will be free with museum admission, and include observation through solar telescopes, Q&A in the Planetarium, and demonstrations at our Science on a Sphere. Eclipse glasses will also be available for purchase in our Discovery Corner Store.
