Oakland House Fire Under Control, No Injures Reported

The fire was reported at about 4:32 a.m.

Update:

A house in East Oakland that was being renovated was destroyed in a two-alarm fire early this morning, and two adjacent homes also were extensively damaged, fire officials said.

The fire was reported just after 4:30 a.m. at 1145 72nd Ave. and spread to adjacent structures on both sides, at 1143 and 1151 72nd Ave., fire Capt. Tracey Chin said. The house at 1145 72nd Ave. was completely destroyed. No one at any of the homes was injured, although a dog was killed at 1145 72nd Ave., she said. The fire was under control shortly after 7 a.m. and the last fire crews left the area at 10:42 a.m., Chin said.

There isn’t yet a damage estimate for the houses at 1143 and 1151 72nd Ave., she said. Several neighbors told fire investigators that a transient woman who spends time in the area has been known to light fires for cooking and other purposes, although it wasn’t known if the woman was in the area at the time the fire broke out, Chin said.

Firefighters have brought a two-alarm house fire in Oakland under control this morning. At 4:32 a.m., fire dispatchers first received a report of the fire happening at 1143 72nd Ave., according to a fire dispatcher. As of 6:25 a.m., there have been no reports of any injuries.
