Oakland Mail Carrier Shot While Delivering Mail
The US Postal Service is offering a $50,000 reward.
OAKLAND, CA —A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was shot in Oakland Friday afternoon, according to a U.S. postal official. The woman was in stable condition at a local hospital following the incident.
The shooting occurred near the corner of Bancroft and Avenal avenues shortly after noon Friday, Postal Service spokesman Augustine Ruiz said.
It appears that the shooting was unrelated to the woman's job and that she was delivering mail when she was struck by gunfire, U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesman Jeff Fitch said.
