A man who was fatally shot in East Oakland late Tuesday afternoon was identified by police today as 26-year-old Matthew Jackson of San Leandro.
Officers who responded to reports of gunfire in the 7000 block of Hawley Street at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday found Jackson seated in a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Oakland police did not immediately provide any information about a suspect or suspects in the case.
