Oakland PD Holds Promotion Ceremony, Honors Officer of the Year
The police chief and mayor participated in the ceremony.

The Oakland Police Department held an Awards and Promotion Ceremony Friday to acknowledge the outstanding work of the men and woman in the Department.
In addition to honoring police officers and civilian employees, Chief Sean Whent presented a Chief’s Letter of Appreciation to the community members and partners involved in the Ceasefire crime reduction efforts :

Chief Whent along with his executive team, Mayor Libby Schaaf, Interim Assistant City Administrator Donna Hom, Council Members Annie Campbell Washington, Dan Kalb and Abel Guillen, and members of our faith based organizations, family and friends were in attendance to honor the individuals and teams for their hard work, dedication, courage and distinguished service to the City and the people of Oakland.
Lieutenant Police Roland Holmgren was the master of ceremony. Ms. Angel Coogler, a Police Services Technician II, and her daughter sang a wonderful duo of the national anthem a Capella. Police Chaplain Rev. Rufus Watkins gave the invocation and benediction.

Mayor Schaaf also addressed the crowd and shared how humbled and honored she was to be able to thank and congratulate the men and women of the Oakland Police Department.
