Oakland Police Two Men on Suspicion of Running a Chop Shop

Officers responded to the 6200 block of Eastlawn Street on a report of trespassing early Monday morning.

Two men were arrested in Oakland Monday on suspicion of running a chop shop and possession of stolen cars, police said Tuesday.

At 4:08 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the 6200 block of Eastlawn Street on a report of trespassing. Once on scene they found two suspects at a burned, abandoned building. Officers also found a car that had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking, police said.

After detaining the suspects, officers checked the rest of the premises and found an undisclosed number of stolen vehicles that were in the process of being dismantled. One of the suspects is also suspected of carjacking, according to police. The names of the suspects arrested were not immediately available.
