Oakland Raiders Fire Head Coach, Name Interim Replacement
Offensive line coach Tony Sparano was named as his interim replacement.

The Oakland Raiders have fired head coach Dennis Allen and chosen offensive line coach Tony Sparano as his interim replacement, team officials announced on Tuesday.
Allen had an 8-28 record since being named head coach of the Raiders in 2012, including an 0-4 start to this season. Sparano will become the Raiders’ 19th head coach in franchise history. He served as the Miami Dolphins’ head coach from 2008-11 and had a record of 29-33. Sparano also served as the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2012 prior to joining the Raiders in 2013.
The Raiders planned a 2 p.m. news conference yesterday at team headquarters in Alameda to discuss the hiring.
