Pedestrian Killed on Train Tracks

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train on Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Oakland on Tuesday evening, police said.

The collision was reported at 5:27 p.m. on the tracks near 37th Avenue and East Ninth Street.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and is not yet being identified by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.

Union Pacific is investigating the collision, police said.
