Piedmont College Students Win Academic Honors

Berklee College of Music announces that Yiannis Anastos Prastacos of Piedmont has earned placement on the Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2012 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.
Trevor Fleshman, Class of 2013 at the University of California, Davis, was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, the UC Davis honors society, last spring. The society is by invitation only during the student’s second term of junior year or senior year. Trevor has been in the honors program and on the dean’s list since enrolling in the fall of 2009.

Ryan Blumenstein of Piedmont, CA (94610), was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Blumenstein is enrolled in the university's School of Engineering and Applied Science. To qualify for the Dean's List in the School of Engineering & Applied Science, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 12 graded units.
Daniel Eager of Piedmont, CA (94611), was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Eager is enrolled in the university's John M. Olin School of Business. To qualify for the Dean's List in the Olin Business School, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 12 graded units.

Villanova University named the following students to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester: Elizabeth Andrada, from Piedmont, Calif., who is studying communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Benjamin Gandesbery, a resident of Piedmont, was been named to the Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's List for Spring Semester 2012.
University of San Diego student Elyse Anderson of Piedmont studied in London this summer. Anderson expects to graduate in fall 2014. While immersed in the rich and complex culture of London, students were able to watched the city as it prepares for the 2012 Olympic Games this summer. Many of the faculty used the Olympics as a context for examining the subject being taught. Courses combined classroom study with excursions, field trips, visits to theatres, museums and cathedrals, and guest speakers drawn from the rich world of British scholarly and cultural life. The program took place from June 14 to July 7.
Halina Mader of Piedmont named to the University of Delaware's Dean's List for Spring 2012. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
Brandon Gaston a resident of Piedmont, was among over 1900 students from Wake Forest University who made the Spring 2012 Dean's List.
Charles Kistler of Piedmont recently received a Louis B. Perry Research Award from Whitman College. The Perry Grant, an award ranging from $2500 to $3000, gives undergradute students the opportunity to work with professors on a summer research project. Grants are awarded to student-professor teams in many different academic fields. Kistler is collaborating with Associate Professor of Biology Kendra Golden on studying the tissue-specific immune response of Manduca sexta larvae to E. coli infection in the presence and absence of T4 bacteriophages.
Lauren Bosche, a member of the class of 2015 at Skidmore College, earned term honors for the spring semester. She is the daughter of John and Lynne Bosche of Piedmont. Term honors are awarded for a quality point ratio of 3.650 from a possible 4.0, for students who have completed 14 credit hours.
Mina Duffy of Piedmont was named to the dean's list for the Spring 2012 semester at Quinnipiac University. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits, including 12 that have been graded A through C in a semester. Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston.
