Piedmont Iron Pigs Win Bronco Championship

Wrapping up the Piedmont Baseball Softball Foundation season with a championship!

The Iron Pigs capped off a 16-2 season with a 9-3 defeat of the Orinda Spartans on Tuesday, June 5th in Orinda. The Iron Pigs had finished in first place for the season, and won 4 playoff games in a row to take the championship.

The players on the team are Robbie Alazraqui, Hess Evans, Ben Fujita, Ryan Hemmeter, Zach Huffins, Maxwell Lee, Nicholas Lee, Brandon Lew, Jake Mura, Thomas Murphy, William Reicher, William Robison and Quinn Willrich. The team was coached by Jeremy Butterfield, with help from parent coaches Chris Robison and Mike Evans.

"The team really came together, with their game faces on during the playoffs and specifically the championship game; they were committed not to lose," said coach Jeremy Butterfield.

"This team had solid depth in pitching with 6 different kids pitching, plus very good hitting, and a defense that was strong, improving throughout the season. And importantly they were all good sports and encouraged each other."
