Piedmont Man Critically Injured By Hit-And-Run Motorcyclist

The CHP reports that he was jogging in the Orinda area when he was hit.

LAMORINDA, CA — A Piedmont man suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening when he was hit by a motorcycle while jogging. The motorcyclist didn't event slow down but sped off, according to witnesses. The CHP is looking for the hit-and-run suspect.

The accident happened near Orinda at about 6:35 p.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road, just west of Inspiration Point.

The victim was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. His name has not been released.

After an investigation, CHP detectives determined the motorcyclist was speeding and went over the solid double yellow lines to pass traffic, as they were heading westbound on Wildcat Canyon Road, just before striking the jogger.

According to witnesses, the impact caused the jogger to fall to the ground. The motorcyclist, however, did not appear to slow down and continued heading west, toward Berkeley, CHP officials said.

The motorcyclist was described as wearing a yellow helmet and black jacket. Witnesses were unable to describe the motorcycle.
