Piedmont Police Issue Scam Alert

Callers are pretending to be from the Social Security Administration.

PIEDMONT, CA — The Piedmont Police Department is warning residents about a scam taking place in the city.

According to a Facebook post, police report complaints from residents about "fraudulent telephone calls from individuals claiming to represent the Social Security Administration (SSA). In them, unknown callers are using threatening language to warn unknowing victims that they will be arrested or face other legal action if they fail to call a provided phone number or press the number indicated in the message to address the issue."

Piedmont Police remind residents that Social Security representatives will not contact you by phone and ask for money.
