Piedmont Runners Make Good Showing in Oakland Marathon
Thirteen local runners, including recent school board candidate Sunny Bostrom, competed in Sunday's race

Thirteen Piedmont runners completed Sunday's Oakland Marathon, following a course just over 26 miles long that ranged from the waterfront to Montclair, according to results posted at active.com.
Sarah Lavender Smith placed fifth overall among women runners and second in her age division (44-44 years) with a time of 3:17:39.
The fastest Piedmonter overall was Chris Carnazzo with a time of 3:11:32, who placed 24th among men runners and fourth in his age divison (35-39 years).

In addition to Smith, three other local residents came in second in their divisons: Sunny Bostrom (65-69) and Carolyn Nelson (55-59) among the women and Charles Reese (65-69) among the men.
Other Piedmont runners were Michael Bandrowski, Jana Carter, Sayed Darwish, Rickey Gallagher, Elisa Goody, Marie Lindquist, Rachel Long and John Nelson.

A number of Piedmont residents also participated in the Oakland running festival's half marathon and 5K races.
