Piedmont Schools Among Best for Your Housing Buck

With the start of the school year turning parents' attention to making sure their kids are getting the best education possible, SFGate "On the Block" blogger Jenny Pisillo unearthed an index comparing home prices and test scores compiled by Forbes magazine and GreatSchools last spring.

Among cities surveyed across the country with median home prices between $600,000 and $700,000, Piedmont was ranked 10th. 

Forbes pointed to the school district in Falmouth, ME, where the median home price is just $351,550 and the test scores are stellar, as the poster child for educational value. One of the secrets to its success, the magazine reported, "teacher turnover is extremely low."
