Pitcher from Piedmont to Start in College World Series
The Cinderella Cal team is putting its faith in Dixon Anderson's fastball.

He and his Cal baseball teammates would not be satisfied with just being at the College World Series, before heading to Omaha last week—they wanted to win some games.
The Golden Bears won one against Texas A & M 7-3 in the second round of the series Tuesday. Today Anderson will have the chance to put a game in his personal win column with a start on the mound in the rematch against Virginia, who beat the Cal 4-1 in the opening round. Piedmont fans will surely be rooting for him.
The right-hander with a scorching fastball graduated from Piedmont High School in 2007. His former Highlander coaches contributed to a small fund-raising effort Anderson's parents organized this year to help save the Cal team from being written out of existence by university budget cuts.
