Police Blame Deadly Weekend Crash In Oakland On Speeding
The senior slammed into a light pole in the area of Edgewater Drive and Oakport Street.

OAKLAND, CA —Speed appears to have been a factor when a 64-year-old man crashed into a light pole in East Oakland on Sunday morning and died, police said.
Officers who responded at 9:51 a.m. Sunday to a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries in the area of Edgewater Drive and Oakport Street found the vehicle's driver, Wesley Randolph III of Oakland, suffering
from severe injuries, according to police.
Oakland firefighters and paramedics provided medical treatment to Randolph but he was pronounced dead at the scene, fire and police officials said.

Police said that based on witness statements, it appears that the vehicle was traveling east on Oakport Street and struck a light pole along the north sidewalk and then a business sign structure west of Edgewater
Drive.
Police said that while they believe speed was a factor in the crash, they do not yet know whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
