Piedmont Avenue to the west is dotted with popular cafes where many freelancers and telecommuters hang out all day. Ice cream institution Fenton's and the Best Dress for Less shop that supports Piedmont's public schools are also there.
The gourmet foods at Market Hall and the and roomy library branch are draws to Rockridge, a little farther to the north and west.
