PUSD Enrollment for New K-5 Students Aug. 20

Enrollment of new kindergarten through fifth grade students who will enter Piedmont public schools in the fall of 2011 will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at , 323 Highland Ave., according to a press release. Parents of children new to the district and not previously enrolled should attend the event.

Parents are required to bring original birth certificates of children to be registered to show proof of age. To enroll in the PUSD kindergarten program, children must be 5 years old on or before Nov. 1, 2012. Children should not accompany parents for enrollment.

State law requires that parents/guardians submit an immunization record prior to kindergarten entry. Parents should come prepared with documented evidence showing complete dates that children have been adequately immunized.
Parents must provide, at the time of enrollment, a grant deed and three additional proofs of residency. Parents renting/leasing must provide, at the time of enrollment, a lease and a copy of the property owner’s rental permit from the city and three additional proofs of residency.

PUSD anticipates that each school will have several classes at each grade level, according to the announcement. The district tries to keep class sizes similar from school to school. In order to do this, children may be assigned to a Piedmont school outside their immediate residency area.
Every attempt will be made to keep siblings together and to look at school proximity if a shift is necessary. However, students may be transferred to another elementary school within the district up to the first two weeks of the new school year.
Middle School and High School
Walk-through registration for and the high schools is Monday, Aug. 20. Middle school registration is from 1 to 6 p.m. and registration is from 1 to 7 p.m. The student is required to attend with the parents.
Parents with middle and high school students new to the district should enroll their students directly at the school after Aug. 1, 2012. Parents must bring the proofs of residency described on the PUSD website under proofs of residency at www.piedmont.k12.ca.us/district-info/enrollment. You can find a complete description of the rules at www.piedmont.k12.ca.us/forms/board/5000.pdf. Select Administrative Regulation 5111.1.
All Piedmont schools are closed for the month of July.
