Record High Temperatures Set in Oakland Sunday

Did you break out the shorts and sandals yesterday?

The high temperature Sunday in downtown Oakland and at the Oakland International Airport Sunday was at a record level, National Weather Service officials said. The temperature at both locations was 74 degrees, forecaster Bob Benjamin said.

That broke a record at the airport of 69 degrees set in 1963 and a record in downtown Oakland of 72 degrees set in 1987. Temperatures were well above normal Sunday in the Bay Area with many locations in the 70s, Benjamin said. The normal highs are in the high 50s or lower 60s.
