Max Manalo-LeClair led the offense with 2 hits, including a 2-run, over-the-fence homer in the bottom of the sixth that broke the tie. Lane Manalo-LeClair had 2 hits, including a triple that brought home Andrew Meredith. Sam Williamson followed with a single to collect an RBI.

Piedmont 7, Brentwood 3

From the mound Carson Gerhardy took a no hitter into the 5th inning before Brentwood fought back for 2 runs. Max Manalo-LeClair pitched the last 2 innings to get the save. Christian Turner had two singles and scored twice. Alex Paton and Max Manalo-LeClair had 2 RBIs each. Jack Woolcott kept the base runners moving with a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly (yielding an RBI).

Brentwood 11, Piedmont 1

In the first game of a double header in Brentwood, the Highlanders’ poor fielding spoiled a good pitching performance from Sam Williamson and Jack Woolcott. Warm, windy, and dusty conditions may have contributed to the rough start. Lane Manalo-LeClair’s single drove in Max Manalo-LeClair to break-up Brentwood’s shut-out.

Brentwood 8, Piedmont 6

The Highlander’s fought back from an early deficit but ended the close game 2 runs short. The Highlanders hammered-out seven hits from Trey Miller (1 hit and 2 RBIs), Max Manalo-LeClair (1 hit and 1 RBI), Lane Manalo-LeClair (2 hits and 2 RBIs), Alex Paton (1 hit and 1 RBI), Parker Dotson, and Andrew Meredith. Jack Woolcott started the game on the mound, with support from Christian Turner, and Parker Dotson.

SOFTBALL

Dragonslayers 6, Blue Sharks 6

In an exciting game Saturday, the U10 Dragonslayers came back in the last inning to tie the game. Strong pitching by Caroline Strauch, Olivia Adams and Kyra Gardner held the Blue Sharks for 3 scoreless innings. But the game highlight had to be the triple play made in the top of the 5th. Pitcher Kyra Gardner caught a pop fly. She then threw to 2nd baseman Anna Smegal who tagged 2nd base and then threw to 3rd baseman, Gigi Gleghorn, who stepped on the bag for the third out. In the bottom of the 5th, Kylie-Ann Heller had a clutch single which scored the tying run.

Piedmont Puppies 3, Piedmont Purple Panthers 0

The Purple Puppies had a strong showing on Saturday highlighted by our little lefty Caroline Collins blasting a ball to the right field fence! Sydney Parkhurst came in to score on Naomi Fedor's RBI. Katie Malan had an MVP game playing strong defensively as well as hitting and scoring a run.

Piedmont Dragons 14, Oakland Maroon Madness 7

The Dragons took advantage of timely walks, stolen bases, and strong pitching from starter Marissa Petty and reliever Maeve Gilbert to beat the Maroon Madness. Petty struck out 3, Gilbert 2. Both pitchers helped their cause with excellent fielding. Petty snagged two come-backers for quick outs and Gilbert delivered a soft liner before striking out the final batter. Excellent defense helped the Dragon's chances including nice play by catchers, Rachel Elliot, Lauren Young, and Avery Zak.
