Sacramento Man Murdered: Killer Sentenced

The killing took place at an Oakland apartment in 2014.

OAKLAND, CA — A 43-year-old Oakland man was sentenced today to 25 years to life in state prison for fatally shooting a Sacramento man in West Oakland in 2014.

Ian Booker pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and a gun use enhancement clause earlier this year for the shooting death of 54-year-old Rondell Johnson of Sacramento at Booker's apartment in the
Campbell Village complex in the 1600 block of 10th Street at about 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2014.

Today, Alameda County Superior Court Judge C. Don Clay formally sentenced Booker.

Officers who responded to the shooting found Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Prosecutor Keydon Levy said Booker and Johnson were friends and Johnson had been staying at Booker's apartment for a few days but Booker got mad at Johnson because he thought Johnson was letting too many people into the apartment.
