Santa's Official Local Mailbox to Start Accepting East Bay Christmas Lists

Located at 1675 Seventh St., Oakland, the "Santa Station" will open at 10 a.m. and be located in post office's retail lobby.

Santa’s official local mailbox for children’s Christmas lists will open today at Oakland’s Main Post Office. Located at 1675 Seventh St., Oakland, the “Santa Station” will open at 10 a.m. and be located in post office’s retail lobby. For 102 years, the postal service has helped make children’s wishes come true. Those wishes have included requests for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing, and sometimes missing parents.

Parents and children can drop off letters to Santa Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 3 to December 19. Today at 12:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet children from Aspire Berkeley Maynard Academy Kindergarten and the students will have the opportunity to write their letters to St. Nick.

During the time Santa’s Station is open, one of St. Nick’s Helpers will be able to assist people interested in adopting a letter. Post office staff will also be at the Jack London Square Tree Lighting Ceremony Friday, December 5, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. During the ceremony, children can write letters to Santa at a table set up by the post office, and children can drop off their letters in a special mailbox in the square.
