Softball: Highlanders Put Up a Fight in Season Opener

The Highlanders challenged Acalanes in a see-saw game.

The Piedmont High School girls varsity softball team opened the season Wednesday, Feb. 23, with a game against Acalanes. In the contest that saw several lead changes, Acalanes came out on top, 9-8.

On defense, sophomore Georgia Hill was the starting pitcher for the Highlanders.

Piedmont's offense played tough with 8 runs on 7 hits. First baseman Alison Gutske had a number of good at bats that helped Piedmont stay in the game.
