Spencer Kim is a first-prize winner in American Protege International Competition of Romantic Music 2011

Spencer Kim, Piedmont High School sophomore, cellist and JV quarterback, will head to New York City next month to receive his first prize in the American Protege International Competition of Romantic Music 2011.
He will perform Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, Opus 33 during award ceremonies at Carnegie Hall, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 12. (The performance could move to Nov. 26 if international winners in the competition don't receive their visas in time.)
Kim auditioned for the competition via DVD and was named a first prize winner in the intermediate age group. Watch his audition performance in the YouTube video at right.
