A new award-winning musical starring local teens, two great music events for littler ones in Berkeley and more fun for your family this week.

Where/When: Habitot Children's Museum, 2065 Kittridge St., Berkeley. Friday, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Where/When: Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, 2640 College Ave., Berkeley. Friday-Saturday, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 2 p.m. (Repeats on the same days and times the following weekend).
Why Go: The talented group of performers at Youth Musical Theater Company tackle a heavy topic in this award-winning new musical that dramatizes the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank, who was falsely convicted of murdering a 13-year-old employee Mary Phagan. Though not recommended for elementary school-aged children, this is a great way to introduce your teen to theater.
Pricing: $22, general; $17 senior; $12 youth (22 and under)

Where/When: Museum of Children's Art (MOCHA), 538 Ninth St., Oakland. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Why Go: This week the professional art teachers at MOCHA will be playing with fur and feathers to ignite kids' imaginations.
Pricing: $8 per child; free for members
Where/When: Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, 2020 Addison St., Berkeley. Saturday at noon.
Why Go: It's a whole day of music, theater and performances for the entire family. It's all about traditional music at the Freight, and the best part is that this open house is completely free.

Why Go: Abby's fun songs get kids singing and dancing along, and it's a great way to start a Saturday morning.
