Thousands of PG&E Customers in the East Bay Lose Power

PG&E officials say crews are working to restore the power.

Thousands of PG&E customers in the Bay Area have lost power this morning, including large outages in the East Bay and San Jose caused by fallen power lines, a PG&E spokeswoman said. In San Jose, 6,081 PG&E customers are without power this morning, after fallen wires knocked out power at about 7:10 a.m., PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

Fallen wires also disrupted power in El Cerrito, Oakland and Richmond at 4:17 a.m., Morris said. PG&E is working on repairs and has reduced the number of affected customers to 2,800 as of about 8 a.m. PG&E is also working to restore power to 1,100 customers in Vallejo.

A total of 3,647 people lost power originally there at about 4:43 a.m., Morris said. There is no estimated time for the repairs to be completed.
