Traffic Alert Update: All Lanes of 880 Reopen

Crews are still working on the side of the road.

Update:

All lanes of southbound 880 in Oakland are now open.

Crews remain on the right shoulder of the highway this morning to continue cleaning up and to repair a guardrail.

Earlier:

A jack-knifed big rig has closed the fourth lane of southbound Interstate Highway 880 at Hegenberger Road this morning in Oakland.

The accident was first reported at 2:09 a.m. and California Highway Patrol officials issued a Sig alert for the area at 4:42 a.m.

The accident caused the truck to spill diesel, which is going into a nearby creek, according to CHP.

Hazmat crews are working to clean the spill, CHP officials said.
