Two PHS Grads Picked to Play Pro Baseball

The Washington Nationals and the Texas Rangers each selected former Highlanders in the MLB draft.

Dixon Anderson and Jordan Remer, who graduated from Piedmont High School in 2007 and 2008 respectively, were selected Tuesday in the second day of Major League Baseball's 2011 First-Year Player Draft.

Anderson, a right-handed pitcher with a fastball in the mid 90s, is currently a  starter for the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears. The Washington Nationals drafted him in the ninth round as the 277th overall pick.

The Texas Rangers tapped Remer, a left-handed pitcher now playing for the University of San Francisco Dons, as the 774th overall pick in the 25th round. Remer helped the PHS team win the North Coast Section Class Class 2A & 3A East Bay Championship in 2008.
