Two Separate Fatal Shootings Reported Wednesday, Early Today in Oakland

No arrests have been made in either shooting and no suspect information was immediately available as of this morning.

Oakland police are investigating two separate fatal shootings on Wednesday afternoon and early this morning, a police officer said. Wednesday’s shooting was reported at 4:36 p.m. in the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way north of West Grand Avenue and near Interstate Highway 980, Officer J. Moore said.

Officers were flagged down by a citizen who told them about a shooting and directed them to the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Moore said.

At 4:09 a.m. today, a shooting was reported in the 9800 block of Burr Street near the Oakland Zoo. A man was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 6:06 a.m., Moore said.
