Victim in Fatal Collision Tuesday Was a 35-Year-Old Man

The crash occurred in downtown Oakland early Tuesday morning.

The person who was killed when his car collided with a big-rig truck in downtown Oakland early Tuesday morning was a 35-year-old man, police said today. The man’s name is not yet being released because his next of kin haven’t been identified, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.

Police said the man’s car was traveling south on Broadway at 2:11 a.m. Tuesday when it collided with a tractor-trailer that was traveling east on Fifth Street. The 35-year-old man, who was not a resident of Oakland, was transported to Highland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The collision is still under investigation and Oakland police said anyone with information about it should call their traffic investigations unit at (510) 777-8570.
