Video: Pinole Students Lobby Obama, Brown for Funding
Ellerhorst Elementary teacher, students plead for more money and get on TV news.
Students in a fifth grade class at Ellerhorst Elementary School have written letters to President Barack Obama and California Gov. Jerry Brown in an attempt to persuade them to restore education cuts.
They also got the attention of a Bay Area TV station.
The students' letters, shown on a KTVU news report, are on the way from the classroom to addresses in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. They're addressed to Brown and Obama.

Ellerhorst teacher Frank Marrero began fasting in protest on March 18 and students have given up favorite treats such as sugar and electronics in support, KTVU reported.
"We're starving already," Marrero said in the broadcast, emphasizing that classroom cuts are hurting seriously.
