Help open beautiful Franklin Canyon to public hiking!

Join Volunteers for Outdoor California, in partnership with the John Muir Land Trust, for trail building and camaraderie at beautiful Franklin Canyon, between Martinez and Hercules, on August 7 - 9, 2015. This project adds new trail to open 483-acre Franklin Canyon to the public for the first time(!!), and to form 1185 acres of combined hiking with Fernandez Ranch. Volunteers may participate for a day or the weekend, with optional camping at the Fernandez Ranch staging area, Christie Rd. off Highway 4. V-O-Cal provides all food for the weekend, tools, trained crew leaders and organization. On Saturday night there will be socializing and fun. Franklin Canyon is home to soaring raptors and spectacular views. The project occurs in grassland savannah habitat and shaded woodlands.
