BART Launches Training Program at 5 Community Colleges
Chabot and Diablo Valley colleges are participating in the program. The training will lead to a wide variety of careers.

BART officials launched a training program Friday with five community colleges to give up to 100 students the knowledge to pursue careers in transit or related fields, the officials said.
BART officials will begin advertising the training program in March, according to BART officials.
The program is called Transit Careers Ladders Training and seeks to provide opportunities for transportation careers for people living in low-income communities, the unemployed, underemployed, minorities, veterans and women, BART officials said.

BART is seeking to fill positions with graduates of the program, according to agency officials.
Persons admitted to the program will get 23 months of training and may be able to begin a career as electricians, transit vehicle electronic technicians and transit communication electronic technicians, BART officials said.

Colleges partnering with BART include the City College of San Francisco, Diablo Valley College, Los Medanos College, Chabot College and College of San Mateo, according to BART officials.
