Greetings. I’ve just been informed of an event in which we can ask questions, and expect answers, from the candidates in next month’s council election. The event coordinator, Hercules resident Glenna Phillips, has sent me a flyer describing the event, and I am attaching that flyer to this email. The flyer describes the event as “an opportunity to meet and greet the candidates in person….” It seems to be much more of an organized question and answer session, to be moderated by the League of Women Voters. The moderators will pose questions to the seven candidates. Later, the candidates will be asked to answer questions drafted by community members.

As stated in the flyer, the event will be held in the City Council Chambers on Thursday, October 11, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. It can be viewed live on Channel 28, on the Hercules city website at www.ci.hercules.ca.us/index.aspx?page=289, and on AT&T Channel 99. Questions from citizens can be submitted at the event, by email at Meet.and.Greet.Candidates@gmail.com, or by telephone at 510 799-8205.
I’m not clear on whether attendees will pose their questions directly, or submit them to the moderators to be read out to the candidates. If you have any questions about anything related to this event, feel free to email me, and I’ll forward your questions on to Ms. Phillips. (For those of you who are reading this on the Patch: my email is glennabraham@hotmail.com)
Best.
