Cal State East Bay Grad Student Featured On Grammy-Winning Album

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA - A California State University East Bay graduate student was featured on a Grammy-winning reggae album, according to university officials.

Trumpet player Mario Silva, 36, attended the Grammy Awards Monday night as an album he was featured on -- Morgan Heritage’s “Strictly Roots” -- won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album of the Year. Silva said in a statement, “I remember recording it and thinking, wow, this sounds pretty amazing.”

According to university officials, Silva is earning his master’s degree in jazz performance.
