CHP Investigating Possible Shooting on Interstate 80

The California Highway Patrol is investigating an incident that may have involved a firearm on Interstate Highway 80 in Pinole this afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a possible shooting on the Apian Way off-ramp from westbound Highway 80 around 2:15 p.m.

Investigators were unable to confirm whether shots were fired, and no evidence was collected at the scene to indicate that a shooting occurred.

There have been more than 30 shootings on East Bay highways in Alameda and Contra Costa counties since November.
