CHP Officer Rescues Terrified Kitten
Huddled against a freeway sound wall, the panicked kitten launched itself into the suspension of a CHP vehicle sent to rescue it.

EAST BAY AREA, CA — The California Highway Patrol had an unusual series of calls Thursday morning — there was a terrified kitten on the shoulder of Interstate Highway 80 in the East Bay. CHP Officer Hsiao, who works out of the Oakland office, was sent to check out the situation.
The kitty was exactly where callers described, huddled against a sound wall. Officer Hsiao pulled over to help the tiny creature. But as the officer approached the kitten, it bolted — launching itself up into the rear suspension of the patrol vehicle.
No problem, Operation Safe Kitten simply went into the next phase.

The kitten was initially uncooperative, but Officer Hsiao persevered and, after several minutes, fished-out the feline. In a Facebook post about the rescue, the CHP joked that Hsiao has a new family member.

Now, the kitty needs a name!
