City Of Hercules Surveys Community On $6M In American Rescue Plan Act Funds

The City Council is seeking input from the community on ideas to assist with Hercules’ economic recovery and encourages you to take a brief survey.

The City of Hercules will receive $6,285,778 in The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. One half of the funds were received in July 2021 and the second half will be received in July 2022. Funds must be obligated by December 2024 and spent by December 2026.

Cities can use ARPA funds for:
1. Responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic
2. Covering costs incurred from the public health emergency
3. Replacing lost, delayed, or decreased revenues to local governments due to COVID-19
4. Addressing the negative economic impacts on local businesses and nonprofits
5. Making investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 is a $1.9 trillion economic recovery bill that was signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021. Within the ARPA, the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund provides $130 billion for local governments split evenly between municipalities and counties to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency or its negative economic impacts.
