City Manager's Report: Panera Bread Progress, Property Tax Rolls

The report also includes information about new, taller signs for a Fitzgerald Drive shopping center.

Pinole City Manager Belinda Espinosa's weekly report provides a brief update on the progress at the future site of Panera Bread on Fitzgerald Drive and approval for new, taller signs adjacent to I-80 for the Pinole Vista Crossing shopping center.

The new signs will be 75 feet tall, compared to the 40-foot and 58-foot pylon signs now in place. The signs will "improve visibility of existing businesses," the report said.

The report also includes data on the number and value of current building permit activity and a drop in the value of property tax assessments. The reduction in property values will require a budget revenue adjustment of more than $10,000 in the current fiscal year.

Espinosa also announced a round of public presentations about the city's utility tax, which is due to expire in December. The city council is expected to place a measure on the November ballot to extend the 8 percent tax for eight years.
