Classic Car Show Set for Sunday in Pinole

Fernandez Park, downtown streets will be closed for the annual fundraising event.

A few Old Town in Pinole streets will be closed a lot of old cars' hoods will be open Sunday during the 21st  Annual "Cruisin In The Sun" Classic Car Show and fundraiser.

The Northern California Cruisers Classic Car Club organizes the event and donates proceeds to local organizations and charities.

The show will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on San Pablo Avenue in Old Town Pinole and  Fernandez Park. Hundreds of cars dating from 1975 or older will be on display. Car owners typically show placards with information about and awards received for their cars and trucks.

The event typically attracts thousands of people who stroll through to look at cars and patronize Old Town businesses.

There will be vendors and also music by The Dave Crimmen Band and local  "DJ" Vince Pistello, who will play the "oldies but goodies tunes." A pancake breakfast will  be served at the Pinole Senior Center, along with food for sale at Old Town restaurants.

The show is free to the general public and there is a playground area in the park for kids.

Donations raised for the show come from registration fees paid by participating car owners.

Street closures

San Pablo Avenue will be closed to traffic between Tennent Avenue and Old
Pinole Valley Road, from 6:00 a.m. until the show ends at  5:30 p.m., according to the Pinole Police Department. Signs will be posted in the area to direct traffic around the closure.

Pear and Plum streets will be closed at Fernandez Avenue at 6:00 a.m. to allow
access for parking during services at St. Joseph Church.

“No Parking” signs will be placed on the east curb of Tennent Avenue from Prune Street to Tennent Avenue and Old Pinole Valley Road until 5:30 p.m.
