RICHMOND, CA — Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run collision that killed a four-year-old boy who was walking with his parents, the Richmond Police Department said Sunday.

The suspect was arrested at 7 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of hit and run resulting in death, police said, saying that news coverage and community outreach helped identify the suspect.
According to police, the SUV didn't stop after hitting the boy and had last been seen headed west to Coalinga on 23rd Street.
"We need your help finding it so we can bring the driver to justice and bring closure to Hector's family," Richmond police said Sunday on their Facebook page.
Police posted surveillance photos of the vehicle and said it was a 1999-2003 metallic blue, 2-door Ford Explorer with aftermarket wheels and should have front-end damage.
